Overview
Fin is Intercom’s AI support agent, and its most interesting property is commercial rather than technical: it is priced per resolved outcome at $0.99, not per seat and not per conversation. You pay only when Fin closes an issue end to end or completes a configured procedure that hands off cleanly. That alignment is rare in customer-service AI, where most vendors bill for message volume regardless of whether the bot helped. Fin no longer requires Intercom as the helpdesk - it runs on top of Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and others, and deploys across Messenger, email, voice, SMS, WhatsApp, Slack, Instagram and a raw API. Training is grounded in your help center, internal docs, data connectors and written Procedures, which are step-by-step policies Fin follows rather than free-form prompting. The testing layer is what support leads should actually care about: simulations and regression tests let you check behaviour changes before shipping them, which is uncommon in this category. Analytics live in a paid Pro add-on covering CX scoring, topic clustering and custom scorecards. The caveats are real. The definition of an outcome is Intercom’s, so audit it against your own resolution data during the 14-day free trial, and note the 50-outcome monthly minimum before you model costs.

Comparison
Compared to Chatbase, Fin targets established support organisations rather than solo builders - Chatbase is far cheaper to start and easier to embed, but has nothing like Fin’s procedure engine, voice channel or regression testing. Compared to Botpress, which hands developers a flow builder and full control, Fin is deliberately opinionated: you write policies, not conversation trees. Landbot remains the better fit for lead capture and marketing conversations rather than ticket deflection. The deciding factor is usually volume - below a few hundred tickets a month, per-outcome pricing rarely beats a flat-fee chatbot.
